Boom Truck and Roof Loading

Board on the deck instead of board in the parking lot. Six stories, in one lift.

OUTWEST1995

Five Colorado yards.
One outfit.

01

What we run

Cranes — Fassi and Cranworks
Chassis — Western Star and Freightliner
Vertical reach — 65 feet · six stories
Horizontal reach — 61 feet
Pup trailers — for jobs where the load is bigger than the boom truck

Sixty-five feet up and sixty-one feet out, and the two trade against each other — the further across the truck has to reach, the less it can lift and the lower it tops out. That is why we ask where the truck can set up before we commit to the lift. Send the setup and you get a straight answer the day before, not an argument on the morning.

02

What it saves you

A crew hand-carrying board up two flights is a crew not hanging board. Boom delivery puts the material where the work is, in one lift, and the labor you save usually costs more than the lift did.

03

What we need to know

  • Deck height and how many floors up
  • Whether there is a window or opening, or it goes over the parapet
  • Overhead lines, tree cover, or anything else in the swing
  • Where the truck can set up, and how tight the approach is
  • Who is on site to take the load

Text us a photo of the site. It answers most of that faster than a description will.

04

Scheduling

Boom deliveries are scheduled, not squeezed in. Give the branch as much notice as you can and we will give you a window you can plan the day around.

05

How the lift runs

Every boom delivery works to a site-specific job hazard analysis, signed by the crew before the outriggers go down. One designated spotter. A documented pre-use inspection on the truck and the clamp. A low trial lift and balance check before anything goes up. Nobody underneath the load, ever. If the setup cannot be made stable, the lift stops and we relocate or come back. The full protocol is on the safety page.
