Vinyl or metal
Vinyl does not rust, does not dent, and it flexes through a hard knock instead of creasing. It is the default on interior work now. Metal still wins where the corner takes real abuse and where the spec calls for it. Paper-faced metal splits the difference and embeds cleaner in compound.
