Why the system matters
An EIFS warranty covers the manufacturer's system — their board, their base coat, their mesh, their finish, installed to their details. Substitute one component and the warranty is gone and so is the drainage design. We sell it as a system and we will spec every layer against the drawings.

Thickness
The board thickness sets the R-value of the wall. One inch is a finish-driven choice; three and four inch is a code-driven one, and on a mountain job with a continuous-insulation requirement it is usually the whole reason EIFS was specified.
