Abuse-resistant or impact-resistant
They are tested differently. Abuse-resistant handles surface wear — carts scuffing, chairs scraping, general scarring. Impact-resistant has a reinforced core that stops a hard hit from punching through. Corridors, schools, clinics, correctional, and anything with a loading dock usually spec one or both. Send us the spec section and we will match it.

Is it fire-rated?+
Yes. 5/8" abuse and impact board is Type X. It goes in rated assemblies where the listing allows it.
Can I finish it the same as regular board?+
Yes. Same tape, compound, and paint. It is harder to cut and score — plan on a saw for openings.
